EDO Culture Heroes: How Louis Capon Finds a Way (Or Makes One)

Welcome to the first edition of Culture Heroes, where EDO spotlights members of our team whose recent accomplishments exemplify our core values. Each quarter, more than 100 EDOers nominate two team members who have gone above and beyond in demonstrating these values with their teammates and our valued partners.

Today, we’re recognizing Marketing Operations Associate Louis Capon, whose creative thinking and get-it-done attitude show an impressive commitment to one of EDO’s core values, “Find a Right Way or Make One” — defined as approaching every challenge with an open mind and optimism, embracing each as an opportunity for creativity and learning.

Louis shared how he thinks about his work, how he puzzles through challenges, and how he thinks on his feet in his EDO role.

EDO: How do you describe what you do to your parents?

Louis Capon: That’s a great question! I’m a Marketing Operations Associate at EDO, so my primary responsibilities are involvement with events, and then also process improvements, streamlining our process as we scale. If I’m talking to my mom about this, I say that I determine our involvement for upcoming industry events and manage our involvement with those events.

EDO: You were nominated for personifying the EDO value of “Find a Right Way or Make One,” and you've built a reputation in the company as someone who can plan and adapt during fast-moving projects. How did you develop these skills to be so responsive and forward-thinking during projects that are moving so quickly?

LC: I think a lot of it is doing as much pre-work as you can. In general, it’s being detailed and also just anxious about these events or projects and thinking about what could go wrong, so that when things break down, you’ve already thought about it, communicated with stakeholders, and prepared a contingent plan.

That way, you can respond efficiently and effectively to ensure the project remains on-track.

EDO: What would your friends, family, or coworkers describe as “pulling a Louis”?

LC: I have no idea [laughs]. I like to think I’m a light-hearted, goofy guy, so I think pulling a Louis would just be doing something goofy, making people laugh.

EDO: What do you think is your best quality as an EDO team member?

LC: I think it’s this attitude of “Find a Right Way or Make One” of tackling problems. I think also being someone people want to work with and collaborate with is really fundamental.

I think that jumping in to help when someone has an issue or just needs support has a huge impact to the company as a whole. It brings you closer with your team and develops a culture where others will do the same for you down the road. So just helping out and supporting our team allows me to have my own success alongside our success as a team.

EDO: What’s your favorite TV show and what do you like about it?

LC: Favorite of all time is “Game of Thrones.” I think there’s so many great characters, and the plot is extensive and surprising. It’s one of those shows that everyone was talking about because it was just crazy, the stuff that was happening.

For what I’m watching now, I’m almost done with the latest season of “The Bear,” season three. I have loved it. I know other people haven’t loved it as much, but I think it’s been great. I’ve loved seeing the great food and what it takes to run a high-end restaurant.

EDO: What do you like most about working at EDO?

LC: It gives you the ability to work on a wide range of projects, and to have a really significant impact on a company’s success.

EDO: What do you like to do outside of work?

LC: Photography. I love walking around outside in Brooklyn and SoHo, anywhere in New York, taking photos. That’s definitely my main hobby.

More recently, biking around. I just got a nice new bike and it’s been great to bike around to explore the city.
